The Distance for Shortening Prayer in Travel and Combining Two Prayers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Is a distance of eighty-five kilometers considered travel? Is it permissible to combine the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers? And are the regular voluntary prayers and other voluntary prayers left off in this case?
Answer: A distance of eighty kilometers is considered travel, which is the distance of two days’ journey, meaning a day and a night. So if the distance reaches approximately eighty kilometers, it is travel or more; because it was reported from a group of the Companions what indicates this meaning. So what is of this distance is called travel, in which the prayer is shortened: Dhuhr to two rak'ahs, Asr to two rak'ahs, and Isha to two rak'ahs. And it is permissible in it to combine Dhuhr and Asr, either combining them by advancing or combining them by delaying. Likewise, between Maghrib and Isha, combining them by advancing in the time of Maghrib or combining them by delaying in the time of Isha; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) combined in travel and shortened in travel, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. Yes.
