Why is it obligatory for him to repeat the prayer if he finished his prayer and remembered that he was not in a state of ritual purity, and the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) does not apply to him

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : My intention is that I do not know what the legal rule is now. A man, for example, finishes his prayer and remembers that he was not in a state of ritual purity; he repeats the prayer.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Now, why does the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not apply to him:
Allah has forgiven my nation for mistakes and forgetfulness رُفِعَ عن أمَّتي الخطأ والنسيان
Sunan Ibn Majah 2045Sahih (Darussalam)
?

The Shaykh : Because our Salaf did not do that, and here you see the importance of the evidence, the evidence we call the Book, the Sunnah, and the practice of the Salaf. Because it is authentic in al-Bukhari: "That 'Umar ibn al-Khattab led the people in prayer as imam, then he found traces of semen on his garment, so he repeated his prayer and did not order the people to repeat their prayer ."

The questioner : And therefore... this hadith is interpreted to mean that the intended meaning is the removal of sin, not...

The Shaykh : No, it is another matter. The Hanafis say so, and the Shafi'is say no, it is not only the removal of sin, but also the removal of the obligation.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Then neither school states the matter absolutely, meaning the Hanafis say the intended meaning of the hadith is the removal of sin except for what is excluded, and the Shafi'is say the removal of the obligation and the sin except for what is excluded.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : And this is the most correct view.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
The student: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.
