The ruling on kissing the mushaf and bowing to it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The second question is from the sister (S. M. A). She says: When I read the Qur'an, I kiss it first, then I read. I heard that this is a religious innovation, so I stopped. Then I saw in my dream that my father ordered me to kiss the Qur'an, then read it.
Please inform me of the correct way, may Allah reward you. And when I carry the Qur'an, those sitting bow to the Qur'an. Is there anything wrong with this or not?

Answer:
Kissing the Qur'an has no established basis and is not prescribed. It is narrated that 'Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl, one of the Companions, "would kiss it and say: This is the book of my Lord," but I do not know of a sound, established chain of narration from him (peace and blessings be upon him) and those he loved. In any case, there is no harm in kissing it, but it is not prescribed. If a person kisses it, there is no blame on him, but this is not prescribed. It was not reported from the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with established chains of narration. Therefore, it is better to leave it.

Magnification is achieved through action. Magnifying the Qur'an is done by acting upon it, reflecting on it, reading it frequently, and being humble and submissive when doing so. This is what is prescribed: reading the Qur'an frequently with reflection, understanding, action, benefit, and humility. This is what is prescribed, as He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُوْلُوا الأَلْبَابِ
[Surah Sad: 29]. So He (Mighty and Majestic) has prescribed for us to reflect on it, read it frequently, and act upon it. This is what is obligatory upon us and what is required of us.
As for bowing to the Qur'an, this also has no basis. Even if it is a form of magnifying Allah (Mighty and Majestic), because the Qur'an is the speech of Allah, it has no basis. The best of this nation and the most excellent among them, the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and those he loved, did not do it. All good lies in following our righteous predecessors, the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who followed them in excellence. Therefore, one should not bow to it, nor kiss it; this is the principle. However, if a person kisses it, there is no blame on him, except that it is not prescribed. As for bowing, it is disliked (makruh); it should not be done, it is not to be practiced, and it has no basis. Yes.
This may lead to bowing to kings and dignitaries, which is an abomination and not permissible; because it is a type of bowing (ruku'), and bowing is not permissible except for Allah alone (Mighty and Majestic), as an act of worship. Therefore, no one should bow to anyone. Yes.
