The ruling on kissing the mushaf after reading from it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
These are several questions from a listener who calls himself: A servant among the servants of Allah, from the Sultanate of Oman. In his first question, he says: After I read the Noble Qur'an, I place the Noble Mushaf on my face and kiss it. What is the ruling on that? Is it permissible or not?

Answer:
Kissing it is not prescribed; it is not prescribed. Nothing has come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or from the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) indicating that, except that it is narrated from 'Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl (may Allah have mercy on him) that he used to kiss it and say, "This is the speech of my Lord." However, we do not know of a sound, established chain for it. And even if it were authentic, it would only indicate permissibility—that it is permissible and there is no sin in it—but it is not prescribed and it is not an act of worship. Therefore, the best and most preferable thing is not to kiss it. If one does kiss it, there is no blame, and there is nothing wrong with it, because it is the speech of Allah, in the sense of honoring it and out of love. So there is no blame in that.

The presenter: One should not make it a habit.

The Shaykh: It is not a sunnah, and it is not prescribed. Yes, and the righteous Salaf did not do it. Yes.

The presenter: I mean, if one makes it a habit after every reading?

The Shaykh: It should not be done.

The presenter: It is not appropriate.

The Shaykh: It should not be done. Yes.
