A Pause with the Hadith on Being Lenient with Those in Financial Difficulty

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This female questioner (Maryam A. A.) from the Prophet’s City says: Your Eminence, do you have a pause to discuss the story of the man who used to be lenient with those in financial difficulty and grant them time?

Answer:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I am more worthy of that than he isأنا أحق بذلك منه
He was asked on the Day of Resurrection:
Do you have any deed? He said: Yes, I used to grant time to those in financial difficulty, forgive them, and make things easy for those in financial difficultyهل لك عمل؟ قال: نعم، كنت أنظر المعسرين، وأعفو عنهم، وييسر عن المعسرين
Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said: I am more worthy of that than he is. Be lenient with My servantقال الله -جل وعلا-: أنا أولى بذلك منه، تجاوزوا عن عبدي
.
So the one who is lenient with those in financial difficulty, treats them well, and is kind even to those who are wealthy; because a wealthy person may encounter a need, requiring patience and a delay in payment. The one who seeks to make things easy for those in financial difficulty, helps them, gives them charity, and grants them time, has a great reward and a great virtue. Allah has promised him that He will be lenient with him. The reward is of the same kind as the deed. Whoever does good, Allah will do good to him. Whoever is lenient, Allah will be lenient with him. So he is in a state of great good, and great virtue is hoped for him.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
