Ruling on Giving Zakah to Relatives

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener Muhammad Sa'd, an Egyptian, asks and says: I have a sum of money, and a year has passed over it. I have relatives; is it permissible for me to send them my zakah? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
If they are poor, there is no harm in sending it to them; because you have in that both maintaining family ties and charity. Two things come together for you in that: charity and maintaining family ties, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Giving charity to a poor person is charity, and (giving) to a relative is two things, charity and upholding the ties of kinship.الصدقة على المسكين صدقة وعلى ذي الرحم اثنتان؛ صدقة وصلة
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2582Sahih (Darussalam)
So if you send them your zakah because of their severe need, there is no harm. And if you spend it on the poor people who are with you in the town, there is no harm. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
