Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: {And as for the favor of your Lord, speak of it}

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, we move on to a message received by the program from the listener: Faruq Hussein Ibrahim. The brother Faruq asks: What is the exegesis of the saying of the Truth, Blessed and Exalted is He? I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed:
But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ
[Al-Dhuha:11].

Answer:
The verse is to be taken at its apparent meaning. Allah commanded His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to speak of the blessings of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He), and this is part of gratitude, because speaking of blessings is a form of thanking Allah. A blessing is thanked for in three ways: acknowledging it inwardly, recognizing that it is from Allah and from His grace, speaking of it outwardly with one's tongue, and the third is: spending it in the way that pleases the Bestower and using it to help oneself in obeying Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He).
So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلا تَقْهَرْ ۝
[Ad-Duhaa 93:9]
And as for the one who asks, do not repel him. And as for the favor of your Lord, speak of it. [Al-Dhuha:9-11] This is an address to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and likewise to every Muslim man and every Muslim woman; they are required to speak of the favors of Allah. We thank Allah for this. Allah has bestowed upon us many favors; we praise Him for this and thank Him for this. One speaks of the favors of Allah: the favor of hearing, sight, health, wealth, children, a wife, a husband. One speaks of the favors of Allah and thanks Him (Glorified and Exalted is He). One thanks Him for this by obeying Him and leaving off His disobedience.
Therefore, the three things are necessary: believing in them inwardly, and that these are from the favors of Allah, whether it be health, a child, or wealth. One believes in his heart that this is from the favors of Allah and that He (Glorified and Exalted is He) is the One who counts them. One speaks of them with his tongue, of these favors, and thanks Allah for them with his tongue. One also thanks Allah with one’s actions, and that is by obeying Allah in this favor, in order to use it to assist in the obedience of Allah, and to direct it toward His pleasure (Glorified and Exalted is He), not toward sins. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. So, this is the exegesis of the noble verse:
But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ
[Al-Dhuha:11].

The Shaykh: Yes, yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
