What is the ruling on choosing which part of the mushaf to read from?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence! Regarding reading from the mushaf, is a person required to read from the surah that he happens to find when he opens the mushaf? Or is he allowed to choose from the surahs whatever he wants?

Answer:
The matter is broad in this regard; he may choose whatever he wishes, or he may start from a fixed point if he has a fixed point that he has become accustomed to returning to whenever he finishes. This is the best: that he should become accustomed to restarting the Qur'an from the beginning whenever he finishes, as the Salaf used to do. He should have a fixed point, and whenever it is convenient, he should start from his fixed point until he finishes. This is the best. And if he reads from any surah, there is nothing wrong with it and no blame on him.
