Deeds Whose Reward Is Prescribed to Be Dedicated to the Deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The presenter:
Your Eminence! In truth, many people inquire about dedicating the reward of deeds. What is the ruling on this? And what is the best thing a person can do for his deceased parents?

Answer:
What is reported in the hadiths is charity on behalf of the deceased and on behalf of the living, and Hajj on behalf of the deceased and 'Umrah on his behalf, and on behalf of one who is unable due to old age, or an illness that is not expected to end, and supplication as well.
As for him praying on behalf of the deceased, or fasting on his behalf; no, that is not prescribed. What is prescribed is to make supplication for him and give charity on his behalf; this is what is prescribed. As for Hajj on behalf of the deceased, or one who is unable, or 'Umrah on his behalf; there is nothing wrong with it. And so is charity on behalf of the living and the deceased. Charity is good and beneficial for the living and the deceased. So is supplication for the living and the deceased. Yes.
