The impermissibility of selling except after taking possession

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner says: I work in trade, and sometimes a person comes asking for a specific item that I do not have. I tell him that it is available, then I take the phone and search the market until I find it. Then I take it from the other merchant at a certain price, on the condition that I will pay him the amount when the customer takes it. Now I ask about that, may you be rewarded, O Shaykh?

Answer:
If you buy the item and bring it to your shop, then sell it to the person, there is no harm. Do not sell until you have brought it. Buy it, bring it, and transfer it to your shop. If a person buys an item from Zayd or 'Amr and then transfers it to his shop, taking possession of it, and then sells it afterwards, there is no harm.
As for selling while the item is with someone else, no; because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Do not sell what is not with you.لا تبع ما ليس عندك
Sunan Ibn Majah 2187Hasan (Darussalam)
. A person does not sell what he does not have. But if he buys it, goes and buys it, or buys it by phone and sends for it, and the item comes to his shop having been purchased for him, and then he sells it afterwards, there is no harm. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
