Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence, does the implication of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Prayer in congregation is better than the prayer of a man by himself by twenty-seven degrees.صلاة الجماعة تفضل صلاة الفذ بسبع وعشرين درجة
Muwatta Malik 8:1
permit praying in other than the mosque?

Answer:
.......:
then I would tell a man to lead the people in prayer, then I would go out with some other men carrying bundles of wood, and go to people who do not attend the prayer, and burn their houses down around themثم آمر رجلًا فيؤم الناس ثم أنطلق برجال معهم حزم من حطب إلى قوم لا يشهدون الصلاة فأحرق عليهم بيوتهم
Sunan Ibn Majah 791Sahih (Darussalam)
Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "We used to see that no one would be absent from it—meaning the congregational prayer—except a known hypocrite or a sick person."
The fact that congregational prayer is superior to the prayer of one alone by twenty-seven degrees does not imply that praying at home is permissible. It is superior, and yet it is obligatory. It is obligatory in congregation, and it is not permissible to perform it at home except for an excuse, such as illness.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Your Eminence.
