Prayer in Congregation at Home

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: My friend is a neighbor of the mosque and says: “My prayer in congregation with my sons at home is like my prayer with the congregation in the mosque in every respect. I ask you, may Allah reward you, to clarify this matter, as there is much debate about it these days, and may Allah
keep you steadfast and reward you with the best reward for us.

A: It is obligatory to pray in congregation in the mosque, and it is not permissible to establish it in homes except for women and those who have an excuse due to illness or fear; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever hears the call and does not respond, he has no prayer, except one who has an excuse.من سمع النداء فلم يجب فلا صلاة له إلا من عذر
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:352
and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) to the blind man who asked him for a dispensation to pray in his home, he said:
He asked: Do you hear summons (adhan)? He said: Yes.هل تسمع النداء ؟ قال : نعم ، قال : فأجب
Sunan Abi Dawud 552Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani)
. And other than that, there are hadiths indicating the obligation of congregational prayer in mosques.
