Excessive movement to repel mosquitoes during prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: We are residents of the countryside where water is abundant and there is agriculture, which leads to the spread of mosquitoes, especially in the summer season. When we perform the Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr prayers, we are harmed by mosquito bites. If we leave them to bite us, we become preoccupied with them and do not contemplate the recitation or the glorification of Allah. If we repel them, it results in excessive movement in the prayer and leads to killing many of these mosquitoes while we are in prayer. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in your view, O Shaykh? And what is your guidance for us?

Answer:
The prescribed course is to endure and be patient, and to treat the area before prayer by using pesticides that eliminate these mosquitoes so that at the time of prayer they are at rest and not preoccupied with the mosquitoes. As for slight movement, it is excused; slight movement in prayer is excused. However, it is not permissible for the worshippers to be preoccupied with the mosquitoes to a great extent. It is obligatory to be patient and endure, unless there is a means to eliminate them before prayer, in which case one should use pesticides to eliminate them so that the worshippers are at rest from their harm at the time of prayer.
Slight movement, such as covering one's feet from the mosquitoes, or covering one's hands with one's cloak or turban to protect them from the mosquitoes, does no harm, praise be to Allah. Slight matters are excused. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed one day while carrying Amamah, the daughter of Zaynab; when he stood, he carried her, and when he prostrated, he put her down. He also prayed while on the pulpit, going up and down (peace and blessings be upon him). So slight movement is excused. In the prayer for the eclipse, he prayed with the people; when Paradise was presented to him, he moved forward, and when Hellfire was presented to him, he moved back, and the people moved back. These are light matters that occur to a person, and they are excused.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
