Question:
A listener from Makkah al-Mukarramah, whose name is indicated by the letters (A. J. D), says: I hope the Shaykh will graciously answer me regarding the following case:
He says: I am a Saudi man residing in Makkah al-Mukarramah, and I have reached an advanced age. There was a misunderstanding between me and my wife in my home thirty-six years ago. Then I left the house, and when I returned, I found my wife standing in front of the money drawer in my shop, which was in the same house. I asked her, "What are you doing?" She replied, "Nothing." I said, "What money did you take?"
She said, "I did not take anything." I said, "Return the money you took, or you are divorced." She said, "I did not take anything." I said, "Go to your father." She went to her father. Then, after a week, her father brought her to me and said, "Take your wife; she did not take any money." Then he left and left her with me. She is residing with me now, as I said. I have been blessed with sons and daughters from her. So I hope you will guide me: what is required of me regarding what has passed?
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
You must refer this matter to the court, and they will issue a ruling for you—Allah willing—based on what they see, or you may attend with your wife and her father at our representative in Makkah, Shaykh Jaber ibn Muhammad al-Mudhali, so that he can write down your statements, and we will look into the matter—Allah willing.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh: Yes.
