What is the cure for weakness in the face of sins?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I have a soul that loves good, but it is weak and cannot stand firm against sin. Whenever I see a sin, I become weak in the face of it. Is there a cure or healing for this that you can point us to?
Answer:
Yes, Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Nisa: 28], but Allah has given you weapons by which you can become strong. He has given you the weapons by which your heart becomes strong, and they are obedience to Allah, frequenting His remembrance, and reflecting on His greatness and His right over you, that you are going to return to Him, and that you will be held accountable: [Surat al-Hijr: 92-93], and that you are deserving of punishment for your evil deeds and reward for your obedience. So reflect, and do not follow the desires of the soul, lest it mislead you from the path of Allah.
It is known that the soul is inclined to evil, except for what Allah has shown mercy to, so do not yield to its desires. Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Nazi'at: 40-41]. So whenever it calls you to sin, remind it that the danger is great, and that it is forbidden from disobeying Allah, and that it is threatened with the anger and punishment of Allah, unless Allah forgives. And you do not know whether you will die in that state? Will you be forgiven or will you be punished?
So strive against it and remind it, and beware of the consequences of being lax. If you are granted success in this, Allah will help you against it, and you will be safe from the evil of this soul.

Answer:
Yes, Allah the Exalted said:
and mankind was created weak.
وَخُلِقَ الْإِنْسَانُ ضَعِيفًا(92) So by your Lord, We will surely question them all (93) About what they used to do.
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْأَلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَIt is known that the soul is inclined to evil, except for what Allah has shown mercy to, so do not yield to its desires. Allah the Exalted said:
(40) But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination, (41) Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَى فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىSo strive against it and remind it, and beware of the consequences of being lax. If you are granted success in this, Allah will help you against it, and you will be safe from the evil of this soul.
