The Shari'ah Remedy for One Afflicted by Sin
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
I am a young man, twenty-one years old, and I have been afflicted with sodomy (sexual deviation) since I was eight years old; my father was busy and did not raise me.
I am now living in regret and remorse over this act of mine, to the point that I am thinking about suicide—may Allah protect me from it—and what increases my pain and torment is that my family wants me to get married. I ask your Eminence to guide me to the right path and an effective cure for my problem, so that I may be rid of the life of torment I am living. May Allah reward you with all good.
Answer: And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, after that:
I ask Allah to grant you well-being from what you have mentioned. There is no doubt that what you have mentioned is a great crime, but its cure is easy, praise be to Allah, and that is: hastening to sincere repentance. This is done by regretting what has passed, abandoning this crime, and making a sincere resolve not to return to it, along with keeping the company of the righteous and staying away from the wicked, and hastening to marriage.
And rejoice in good, success, and a good outcome if you are sincere in your repentance; for the saying of Allah: : [al-Nur:31], and His saying in Surat al-Tahrim: [At-Tahrim 66:8] the verse [al-Tahrim:8], and the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih Muslim 121, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Sunan Ibn Majah 4250Da’if (Darussalam).
May Allah guide you, and reform your heart and your deeds, and grant you sincere repentance and the company of the righteous.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.

التوبة تهدم ما كان قبلهاThe one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin.
