What is the advice for one who is troubled by whispers during his prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I am suffering from a great problem, which is whispers in prayer and distraction of the mind, which causes me to perform this act of worship without knowing what the imam recited. I ask your eminence to help me find the cause and the cure. May Allah grant you success.

Answer:
This is a calamity that has befallen many people: young and old. Its cure, in truth, consists of two things:
The first thing: that a person should remember, while performing his ablution, while praying, and in other situations, that he is commanded to perform the act of worship as Allah has commanded, and that he must be mindful of what Allah has prescribed in that regard, and that he should watch over his relationship with Allah in that, and fear His anger and retribution. This is what keeps him away from whispers. He should be mindful of the greatness of his Lord, that he is accountable for performing this obligatory duty, that he is commanded to do so, and that he should perform it as Allah has commanded. So let him be mindful of that and keep it in his thoughts.
The second thing: seeking refuge in Allah from Satan. If the whispers increase upon him, he should seek refuge in Allah from Satan; for Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, says:
And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allahوَإِمَّا يَنْزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ
[Al-A'raf: 200]. So you are commanded to seek refuge in Allah, even during prayer.
