Advice for One Afflicted by Whispers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first message in this episode is from one of the female listeners, identified as (L. A. B). Our sister has several issues; in one of them, she mentions that she has a sister who complains of whispers, particularly during ablution. She asks the Shaykh to guide her to the best course of action that may, with Allah’s permission, help in curing this ailment. May Allah reward you with good?
The Shaykh: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows:
This ailment, which is the disease of whispers, is complained of by many people, both men and women. The treatment for it is seeking refuge in Allah from Satan, because it is one of Satan’s stings and one of his deeds, and he is the enemy of Allah. The Exalted said about him:
Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze.
[Fatir: 6], and the Exalted said:
And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.وَإِمَّا يَنْزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
[Fussilat: 36]. So the treatment for this disease is seeking refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan in ablution, in prayer, and in other matters. Whenever one feels any of the whispers, he seeks refuge in Allah from Satan, saying: “I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan.” And he must have strength, sincerity, and desire for Allah the Exalted and Exalted, for this enemy requires strength and sincerity, and none can save you from him except your Lord, who is able to do everything .
So the believer, male or female, should turn to Allah with sincerity and call upon Allah to protect them from him and to shield them from him when the whispers occur, and likewise in other times, seeking protection from Allah: “O Lord! Protect me from Satan. O Lord! Shield me from his whispers. O Lord! Sufficient me against his evil.” He seeks refuge in Allah and turns to Him, the Exalted and Exalted: “O Allah, shield me from the accursed Satan. O Allah, sufficient me against his evil. O Allah, grant me well-being from his whispers and stings.” He asks his Lord and seeks refuge in Allah, and Allah the Exalted and Exalted protects him from him whenever the servant is sincere. Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He, says:
Call upon Me; I will respond to you.ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
[Ghafir: 60], and Allah will not break His promise . But a person may be lax or negligent; he may make a supplication that is not sincere.
So it is obligatory to be sincere and to have desire for what is with Allah, to turn to Him, and to prostrate oneself before Him with sincerity, devotion, and desire, until He protects you from this clear enemy.
And when a person performs ablution, he does not repeat the ablution because of whispers, nor does he repeat the prayer because of whispers. He proceeds on the basis that his ablution is valid and his prayer is valid, and he does not repeat any of that.
Because whenever he obeys Satan in repeating the ablution, increasing it, or repeating the prayer, or the like, the enemy of Allah becomes hopeful regarding him. But when you have performed the ablution and you know that you performed it, fear Allah, do not repeat it, and do not obey the whispers. And likewise in prayer, complete it and do not obey the whispers. And so in everything, oppose the enemy of Allah and contradict him. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
