Question:
The presenter: Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings. O Shaykh, may Allah welcome you among us. By Allah, we love you for the sake of Allah, and we ask Allah for success and a good ending for us and for you. He mentioned questions, one of which says: How do we reconcile the hadith:
There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes goodإنَّ في القلب مضغةً إذا صلحت صلح الجسد كله
Sahih al-Bukhari 52
, with the emergence of the artificial heart in these days?

Answer:
May Allah love you for the sake of which you loved us, and I ask Allah to make us all among those who love one another for His majesty, and to cause us to die as Muslims.
As for the emergence of the artificial heart: The materials that supply this heart, and the vessels that supply this heart, are a machine. Its supply comes from the vessels that feed it until it is filled with faith or disbelief. If it is established that the artificial heart is the heart of a disbeliever or a sinner, and it is placed in a good person, then through what Allah softens for him in terms of uprightness and obedience, the remembrance of Allah, love for Allah, and fear of Allah, this heart becomes upright and is filled with the obedience of Allah. This is due to what supplies it from the vessels in which this blood flows, and in which flows what Allah opens up for the servant, so he speaks with his tongue and acts with his limbs in obedience to Allah. Thus, the supply of this heart comes through these vessels that supply it with the blood that reaches it, and that becomes one of the causes of its being filled with the mindfulness of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). For Allah, the Exalted, is the One who created the first and created the second—He created the first heart and created the second heart. If it is installed in this body and settles in this body and becomes sound, it is supplied with the materials with which the first heart was supplied, and it becomes in its state a sound, good heart. Just as if Allah guides its owner from whom it was removed: the disbeliever is a disbeliever, vile; so if Allah guides him, his heart becomes sound. And the sinner, if Allah guides him, his heart becomes sound. So likewise, if his heart is transplanted while it is vile or he is an open sinner, his heart becomes sound if it settles and is established in the good place, when it comes to him through the guidance of Allah for success and guidance, via the intermediaries that Allah has sent to these good materials, and what Allah places in it of love for Allah, fear of Allah, and desire for what is with Him, just as He placed in the first. He is capable of all things (Glorified and Exalted is He).
