Ruling on combining prayers in countries where the night is short

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A person is studying in Germany and faces a problem: the call to Maghrib prayer is at ten o'clock, the call to 'Isha' prayer is at twelve o'clock, and the call to Fajr prayer is at three o'clock. Given the short interval between the 'Isha' and Fajr calls and his preoccupation with acquiring knowledge in the morning, is it permissible for him to combine Maghrib with 'Isha' by advancing the prayer so that he can sleep for a sufficient period of the night?

Answer:
He is not permitted to combine Maghrib and 'Isha'. Rather, he must pray this one in its time and that one in its time, and seek help from Allah with the necessities of his studies. Combining is only for illness, travel, or what is analogous to that, such as a woman with irregular bleeding. This case does not fall under that category.
It is obligatory to arrange the lessons in a way that does not compromise the obligatory duties. If the lessons are not of his own choosing, he should attend as many as he can and prioritize obedience to Allah in the part where the obligatory prayer is due, even if he misses some lessons. However, he must not subordinate acts of worship to his lessons.
