The Ruling on Calling for Gathering Under the Banner of Humanity

Question:
Many of the enemies of Islam call for gathering under the banner of humanity, even if the religion and creed differ. Unfortunately, from time to time, we hear among the children of Islam those who call for this, either imitating the enemies of Islam or out of ignorance. What is your opinion on this?

Answer:
The call to gather under the banner of humanity, or nationalism, or secularism, or patriotism, are all calls of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance (jahiliyyah). They are all slogans of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. They must be abandoned, and one must disavow them. The only call is to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and to what the Salaf (the earliest generations) of the Ummah (the Muslim community) followed, namely the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who followed them with excellence. It is obligatory to call to this, and it is obligatory for the people of Islam to call to this, and to advise people to hold fast to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), to act upon it, and to follow the methodology of the righteous Salaf, the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who followed them with excellence. This is by obeying Allah and His Messenger, and leaving what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said: : [Al-Imran: 31].
So the path to salvation is following the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (Glorified and Exalted is He) said: [Al-An'am: 153]. So the path of Allah is Islam, and it is the religion of Allah, and it is what the people of the Sunnah and the community (Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah) are upon. It is the path of Allah and the religion of Allah. It is obligatory to follow it and to beware of what contradicts it, as He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said: . And the paths are the ways that deviate from that: from religious innovations (bid'ah), desires, and forbidden lusts. It is obligatory to beware of them, and the believer—and so the believing woman—must be upright upon the straight path of Allah, which is the religion of Allah, which is Islam, which is obedience to Allah and His Messenger, which is following the methodology of Allah and His Messenger that the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated, and upon which the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who followed them with excellence proceeded.
