Ruling on taking a break between the circuits of tawaf

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:

With Allah’s blessing, we begin this session with a message received from a listener of the program. He asks in this question: Is it permissible to take a break between the circuits of tawaf in Hajj or 'Umrah, or is it obligatory to perform them consecutively? And what is the ruling for one who separates the circuits due to extreme fatigue and crowding, O Shaykh?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:

The Sunnah in tawaf is consecutiveness; one must perform the circuits consecutively. However, a short break that does not cause harm and is not considered long by custom does not prevent this. Likewise, if the prayer is called while he is performing tawaf, he should pray and then complete the tawaf from the point where he left off. The same applies to sa'y.

As for if the separation is prolonged, he must restart from the beginning; because consecutiveness is a condition, except for a slight interruption that is not considered long, or for a legitimate religious excuse, such as the establishment of prayer.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
