He performed the tawaf al-ifadhah in six circuits

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 19671 )
Q: He says that he performed Hajj last year and did not complete the tawaf al-ifadhah, which is a pillar, except for six circuits . He states that the reason for this is that he was counting the circuits by saying takbirat in front of the Black Stone until he reached seven takbirat, whereas he had not completed seven rounds around the Great House, meaning only six circuits. The question is about the seventh circuit that he left and did not complete due to his ignorance, and because
he was counting by takbirat rather than by complete circuits. We ask your Eminence to answer his question so that we may send it to him. May Allah reward you.

A: Tawaf al-ifadhah is a pillar of Hajj that is not completed except by it. It is a condition for its validity that one completes seven circuits. If one circuit or a part of it is missing, his tawaf is not valid. He is obligated to return to Makkah and perform it in full. He should then perform sa'y between al-Safa and al-Marwah if he was performing tamattu', and likewise if he was performing qiran or ifrad and had not performed sa'y with the tawaf al-qudum. If he engaged in sexual intercourse before he repeated that tawaf, he owes a fidyah of a sheep that is acceptable for the 'Id sacrifice, to be slaughtered in Makkah and distributed to the poor of the Haram . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
