Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received for the program from the listener: Husayn Nur Ahmad al-Somali from Ubayq. Our brother, in reality, his message is lengthy, and we are at the end of the episode. In it, he asks the Shaykh about the Sufis, and about some of their sheikhs, such as: al-Sayyid al-Badawi, the Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani, and the Shaykh Yusuf al-Kunin, it seems. He seeks his guidance, and concludes his message at the end by saying: Do you believe that I circumambulated a wooden plank made in the shape of a coffin, and I was not alone, and it was a celebration organized by one of the parties, who directed us toward these groups.
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The groups known as Sufis are an innovated group, and an innovating group, and they vary in their innovations. Among them are those whose innovation reaches major shirk (associating partners with Allah), and among them are those whose innovation is less than that. So my advice to you, O questioner, is not to affiliate with them, not to be deceived by them, and not to be with them. Rather, you must follow the Sunnah, and adhere to what Allah has prescribed, and what His Book and the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) indicate, and ask the scholars known for good creed and uprightness on the path of the people of the Sunnah and the community, such as: the Supporters of the Sunnah in Egypt, the Supporters of the Sunnah in Sudan, and whoever is known for knowledge and virtue from the rest of the scholars, you ask them and benefit from them. This is what you should do.
As for the Sufis, no; because the predominant thing among them are innovations and superstitions, and things they invented for themselves and made a system for them, which has no basis in the pure Shari'ah. And some of their innovations reach shirk, such as worshipping the dead, and calling for aid from the dead, from the people of graves and others, and like supplicating to al-Badawi, and calling for aid from al-Badawi, or from al-Husayn, or what is similar to this. All of this is major shirk. And likewise, circumambulating graves or a wooden plank that is made and circumambulated around, all of this is from the great abominations.
And circumambulation is worship of Allah around the Ka'bah. And whoever circumambulates a grave or a wooden plank or something else, circumambulating in worship of other than Allah, for the owner of the grave, or for the one who placed the plank, or for the plank itself, calling upon it and believing in it, it becomes major disbelief. We ask Allah for safety.
So it is obligatory for you to be careful in your religion, and to strive in reflecting upon the Noble Qur'an, and to increase in its recitation, along with the pure Sunnah and caring for it. You memorize Bulugh al-Maram, 'Umdat al-Hadith, so that you benefit, along with asking the scholars known for good creed and noble conduct.
And I have mentioned to you among them: the Supporters of the Sunnah in Egypt, and the Supporters of the Sunnah in Sudan, and likewise whoever is known for knowledge in your country, knowledge of the Sunnah, and distance from the Sufis, and exaggeration regarding graves. These are the signs of the people of the Sunnah. The signs of the people of the Sunnah are distance from the Sufis, and distance from exaggeration regarding graves. These are from the proofs that the scholar is from the people of the Sunnah, if he calls to the Great Qur'an, and the pure Sunnah, and warns against worshipping graves, and calling for aid from their people, and the like of that, and distances himself from the innovations of the Sufis. So these are the signs of the committed scholar, the one who follows the Sunnah. We ask Allah for success and guidance for everyone.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
