Advice on Steadfastness in the Religion of Allah the Exalted and His Worship

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
She has a long section in the conclusion of her thesis in which she says: When I read about the biographies of the Companions, the Successors, and the Imams of Islam, I see their fear of Allah and their deep faith, and when they read the Qur'an, they weep a lot. So when I read about them, I wished I were like them, and I wished I were in their time and as humble before Allah as they were. But in this time, there are many trials and a dangerous intellectual invasion that makes the Muslim doubt his religion.
And I am now in great distress. I want my heart to be reassured with faith and certainty, and to attain the fear of Allah, and for my chest to be expanded. I want the love of Allah and His Messenger to be dearer to me than the world and what is in it, and for the world to be in my hand and not in my heart. I want to shorten my hopes, and I want to take pleasure in obeying Allah, and for Allah to make prayer the coolness of my eyes. But I have not been able to do so. I read the Qur'an, and no fear occurred in my heart except a little. And I am afraid that death will overtake me before I have attained the true fear of Allah and the true awe of Him.
How should I be guided? For I am—she uses a word she wishes she had not used to describe herself—in confusion. And this question is very important in my life; indeed, it is my whole life, because I was not created except to worship Allah! This is the message. Indeed, this is the issue, Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz. I hope you will give it your attention. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
O sister in Allah! Be glad of great good.
As long as you are of this standing, with this eagerness for good, and your love for the righteous predecessors, and your wish to be in their time and follow their way, then praise Allah for this good. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said when he was asked: A man said to him: O Messenger of Allah! A man loves a people but has not yet joined them. He said, peace and blessings be upon him:
A man shall be with whomever he loves.المرء مع من أحب
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2387Sahih (Darussalam)
.
So you are with those you love. And you must strive in obeying Allah and leaving His disobedience, and in increasing the remembrance of His Glory, seeking forgiveness, and supplication, and reading the Noble Qur'an with reflection and understanding at the appropriate times of the night or day. And be glad of good, be glad of good and a good outcome, for Allah, Glorious and Majestic, is Merciful, Compassionate, Near, and Responsive . And He loves it when His servants ask Him and humble themselves to Him, as in the authentic hadith of peace and blessings: Allah says :
I live in the thought of My servant as he thinks of Me and with him as he calls Me.أنا عند ظن عبدي بي، وأنا معه إذا دعاني
Sahih Muslim 2675d
.
So you must have good opinion of Allah, and you must increase in supplicating to Him and asking Him to guide you, to rectify your heart and your deeds, to cause you to die upon Islam, and to grant you His fear, His monitoring, and the magnification of His command and prohibition.
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way outوَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا
[Al-Talaq:2]
And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Meوَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ
[Al-Baqarah:186] And He is the One who said, His Glory be High:
Call upon Me; I will respond to you.ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
[Ghafir:60].
So beware of despair, and beware of doubt in the favor and generosity of Allah. And you must have good opinion of Allah. Have good opinion of Allah, and be glad of good. And you must do your best in obeying Allah and His Messenger, in loving Allah and His Messenger, in preferring the things Allah and His Messenger love, and in leaving what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden.
And for you is the good outcome, as the Exalted said:
So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous.فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ الْعاقِبَةَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
[Hud:49]. May Allah make us and you among the righteous. Yes.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. She hopes for your supplication, Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz, in this she hopes...

The Shaykh: May Allah rectify her heart and her deeds, may Allah rectify her heart and her deeds, and grant her the great fear of Allah and steadfastness upon His command.

The presenter: She described herself with a description I did not read in the body of the message, Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz, and now I present it and consult your eminence about it. She says about herself: that she is in misguidance. Is it permissible for a Muslim, even if his conscience rebukes him, is it permissible for him to describe himself with this description?

The Shaykh: No, that is not appropriate. But he says: I have wronged myself, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the Trustworthy One (may Allah be pleased with him) when he asked him: Teach me a supplication I can make in my prayer. He said: Say:
O Allah! I have wronged my soul very muchاللهم إني ظلمت نفسي ظلمًا كثيرًا ...
Sahih al-Bukhari 7387, 7388
the hadith. And likewise, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say:
O Lord, forgive me all my sins, small and great, first and last, open and secret.اللهم اغفر لي ذنبي كله دقه وجله، وأوله وآخره، وعلانيته وسره
Sahih Muslim 483
and similar supplications. So she supplicates to her Lord that Allah forgive her sins and her wronging of herself. And thus she asks her Lord constantly to guide her to His straight path, and to forgive her sins. This is my advice to the sister in Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. She also hopes for your eminence's supplication in her absence, and she says: it is a supplication that is answered.

The Shaykh: And this is a supplication in her absence. This supplication that took place is a supplication in her absence; because she is not present.
We ask Allah to accept from us and from her, and we ask Allah to rectify all our hearts. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
