Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our sister asks and says: Is it permissible to clap for a need during prayer?

Answer:
Yes, it is a recommended practice (sunnah) for women. Clapping is a recommended practice (sunnah) for women if an incident occurs. As for men, they have the tasbih (saying Subhan Allah). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
If anything happens to someone during prayer, he should say “Glory be to Allah,” for when he glorifies Allah. He pays attention to him. Clapping applies only to women.من نابه شيء في صلاته فليسبح الرجال ولتصفق النساء
Sunan Abi Dawud 940Sahih (Al-Albani)
This is the recommended practice (sunnah).

The presenter: May Allah bless you.
