The Ruling on the Hadith: (Whoever strikes his wife unjustly . . . )

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We return at the beginning of this episode to the message from our listener (S. S.) from the south. We presented some of his questions in a previous episode, and in this episode he says: I heard that there is a hadith meaning that the one who strikes his wife unjustly without reason, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) will be his adversary on the Day of Judgment!! Is this meaning correct? And has anything been reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that indicates this?

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
I do not recall anything regarding this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), but he (peace and blessings be upon him) advised well regarding women, saying:
I urge you to take care of the women
Sahih al-Bukhari 5185, 5186
, meaning: they are captives among you. He forbade wronging them and transgressing against them, and he ordered good treatment in companionship, as Allah ordered this in His saying, Exalted is He:
And live with them in kindness
[Al-Nisa: 19], and He said: :
And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable
[Al-Baqarah: 228]. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said when Mu'awiyah ibn Haydah al-Qushayri asked him:
“Messenger of God, what right can any wife demand of her husband?’’ He replied, “That you should give her food when you eat, clothe her when you clothe yourself, not strike her on the face, and do not revile her or separate from her except in the house”يا رسول الله! ما حق زوج أحدنا عليه؟ قال: تطعمها إذا طعمت، وتكسوها إذا اكتسيت، ولا تضرب الوجه، ولا تقبح ولا تهجر إلا في البيت
Mishkat al-Masabih 3259
. So the believer cares for his wife, honors her, treats her well, and does not wrong her. This is what is obligatory for him: not to wrong her, neither in her person, nor in her wealth, nor in her honor.
If he wrongs her, Allah will be his adversary, greater than the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The adversary of the wrongdoers is the Lord , He is the One who will reward them with what they deserve, as He said, Exalted is He: :
And whoever commits injustice among you - We will make him taste a great punishment.
[Al-Furqan: 19], and He said, Exalted is He:
And the wrongdoers have not any protector or helper.
[Ash-Shura: 8]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah the Exalted says:يقول الله 
: Three are those against whom I will be the adversary on the Day of Judgment: a man who gave a pledge by Me and then betrayed—meaning: he made a covenant and then betrayed—and a man who sold a free person and consumed his price, and a man who hired a worker and took full benefit from him but did not give him his wage. Al-Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih.
Allah says: :
I will be against three persons on the Day of Resurrection
Sahih al-Bukhari 2227
, Allah is their adversary
I will be against three persons on the Day of Resurrection: -1. One who makes a covenant in My Name, but he proves treacherous.
Sahih al-Bukhari 2227
, meaning: they gave pledges and then betrayed them,
One who sells a free person (as a slave) and eats the price
Sahih al-Bukhari 2227
, as has happened in the past with some people who steal people's daughters or sons and sell them as slaves while lying,
One who employs a laborer and takes full work from him but does not pay him for his lab our.
Sahih al-Bukhari 2270
.
And so Allah will be the adversary of the one who wrongs his wife without right, or wrongs his slave without right, or his servant without right, or his child without right, or his neighbors without right, or others among the Muslims. So Allah is his adversary on the Day of Judgment. And whoever Allah is the adversary of, he is one against whom a case is brought. And Allah is greater than His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So it is obligatory for every Muslim to beware of wronging his wife, or wronging his family, whether male or female children, or sisters, or maids, or others.
And so, wronging neighbors with bad speech, or with ugly actions, or by raising the volume of the radio until it harms them, or similar things by which neighbors are harmed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who believes in Allah and the Last Day does not harm is neighbour
Sahih Muslim 47b
. In the other wording:
Let him honor his neighbor.
. And in the third wording:
Let him be good to his neighbor
.
And by this, you know, O questioner, that wronging the wife and wronging anyone other than the wife is all a forbidden matter. And Allah is the adversary of the wrongdoers on the Day of Judgment. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrection
Sahih Muslim 2578
. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah the Exalted says:يقول الله 
: O My servants! I have forbidden wrong for Myself and made it forbidden among you, so do not wrong one another. We ask Allah for the Muslims well-being and guidance. Yes.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
