Warning Against Oppressing Women in Their Wealth

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The first item in this episode is a message received by the program from listener Muhammad Mahmoud Abu al-Khayr from Egypt. Brother Muhammad presented some of his questions in a previous episode, and in this episode, a number of his questions remain, among which is one that asks: What is the sin of one who consumes a woman’s right unjustly?

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon His Messenger, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
It is obligatory for the Muslim to fear Allah in all matters, and to be cautious regarding the wealth of his Muslim brother and his Muslim sister, so that he does not consume it except by right. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon during the Farewell Pilgrimage and said:
No doubt! Your blood, your properties, and your honor are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours
Sahih al-Bukhari 1739
meaning: the Day of Sacrifice, and
in this month of yoursي شهركم هذا
meaning: the month of Dhul-Hijjah,
In this land of yours.
meaning: Makkah.
The meaning of this hadith is the strict prohibition of oppressing people in their wealth, their lives, or their honor. If the wealth belongs to a woman and she is oppressed, it is more severe because she is weak. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have issued a warning concerning (failure to fulfill) the rights of the two weak ones: Orphans and women.
Sunan Ibn Majah 3678Hasan (Darussalam)
Generally, she is unable to seek justice from the one who oppressed her, especially in countries where there is no Shari'ah ruling.
It is obligatory for the Muslim to guard against oppressing his brother or sister in Allah, whether it is a wife, a sister, a daughter, or otherwise. One must be cautious, be just with oneself, and give one's self its due. This is the obligation of every Muslim and every Muslim woman. The evil of oppression is great, and its consequence is severe. Allah the Exalted says:
And whoever commits injustice among you - We will make him taste a great punishment.
[al-Furqan:19] And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrection
Sahih Muslim 2578
And the Lordas narrated by His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
O My servants, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another.
Sahih Muslim 2577a
.
Therefore, every Muslim and every Muslim woman must be cautious of oppression, whether in life, wealth, or honor. It is not permissible for a man to oppress his wife, sister, daughter, or otherwise. Rather, one must be cautious of that and fear Allah in it. This is the obligation of all those who are accountable. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
