The Ruling on the Greeting of the Mosque for the Imam

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling for an imam who does not pray the greeting of the mosque?

Answer:
The obligatory prayer is sufficient for the imam. If he arrives and begins the obligatory prayer, that suffices for him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come and begin with the obligatory prayer; he did not pray the greeting of the mosque. When the place of imamate was designated, he would pray, (peace and blessings be upon him). So if the imam intends to pray and does not sit in the mosque, but rather comes to perform the obligatory prayer, he begins with it and it suffices for him. Likewise, if a person arrives and the imam has already entered the prayer and the iqamah has been called, the obligatory prayer suffices for him in place of the greeting of the mosque.
