Entering the mosque while the imam is in the tarawih, so he began with two rak'ahs as the greeting of the mosque
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: The brother (A. A. A.) from Jeddah says in his question: Some of the worshippers, when they enter for the tarawih prayer and the imam is praying, pray two rak'ahs alone as the greeting of the mosque, then join the imam in the tarawih prayer afterwards. Is this action in accordance with the Sunnah? We ask for your guidance. May Allah reward you with good.
A: The Sunnah for one who enters while the imam is praying, whether in the obligatory prayer, the tarawih, or the eclipse prayer, is to join the imam directly and not to pray the greeting of the mosque; because the prayer that is being performed suffices for it, and I am not aware of any disagreement among the scholars on this. And success is from Allah.
