What is the advice for those who are fanatically devoted to sports clubs?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A questioner says: Many young people—and even adults—show excessive enthusiasm in supporting sports clubs, which leads to quarrels, disputes, and even personal enmity and insults among them. What is your guidance for such people? May Allah reward you with good.
There is no doubt that this enthusiasm for these clubs, which leads to much conflict, hatred, enmity, and cursing, is definitely wrong; because the purpose of sports is physical strength, and the benefits sought from sports include the firmness of limbs, the strength of members, the strength of nerves, the ability to endure hardships, and the ability to bear heavy weights. Therefore, it is not befitting for their supporters to curse one another, to harbor hatred, or to be fanatically partisan. No, the obligatory thing is that they be brothers, as Allah has made it obligatory for them to be, whether this one succeeds or that one fails, whether so-and-so’s team wins or so-and-so’s team wins. They are absolutely brothers, the winner and the one who did not win. It is obligatory that there be nothing between them but kind words, addressing one another in the best manner, and resolving problematic issues with wisdom and good style, not with cursing, hatred, insults, and foul language.
It is also not befitting for them to do what is happening in the markets now, with the competitions, shouting, and harming people in the streets. This is a type of madness and a type of foolishness that no sane person would approve of.
So what is befitting for those in the clubs is that they be sensible. Whoever succeeds should praise Allah, and not be arrogant toward his brother, or mock his brother, or harm his brother or any other people.
And the matter is easy: you succeeded or you did not succeed! Did you kill the enemies of Allah? Did you kill the Russians so that you would succeed? What did you do? Did you bring this in with that? What is the value of this success?
If people were to use their reason: it is not befitting for a sensible person for this success to be the cause of hatred, or insults, or harm to anyone, not in the markets, nor outside the markets. They come to the markets in their cars as if they are madmen. This is a great error that is never befitting for sensible people. It is obligatory that they be sensible in their cars, in their words, and in all their methods, whether the loser or the winner. As for the loser, what is upon him? And what did the winner do? What happened? Did he drive the Jews out of Palestine? Did he support the Afghans and defeat the Russians? What did he do?
All of these are things of no value, but we ask Allah for guidance for us and for them. We ask Allah to grant them good minds, good and sound judgment, and complete guidance.
