Q17: Some of the young men in our area called on people to perform the Festival Prayer in one of the sports clubs, in the spirit of reviving the Prophetic Sunnah,
and we wish to inform Your Eminence that these clubs are surrounded by houses, and there are images in the prayer area, and these playing fields are places not designated for prayer but for play and amusement. What is your opinion?
A17: The prayer that was performed is valid, and you should contact the relevant authorities in your area, such as the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and inform them of this; because this matter falls within their jurisdiction, in order for them to designate places for the people of the town to perform the Festival Prayers. If places have already been designated, the young men should be prevented from performing the Festival Prayers in the clubs, and they should perform them with the Muslims in the mosques designated for the festivals. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
