What is the authenticity of the hadith (Whoever catches one rak'ah of the prayer has caught the reward of the congregation), and is everyone who catches any part of it equal to the others in reward?

The questioner: A young man asked me about this hadith yesterday, my Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner: By saying:
Whoever catches a raka of the prayer has caught the prayer.
Muwatta Malik 1:15
in this exact wording?

The Shaykh: There is no such hadith.

The questioner: There is no hadith, but the ruling is still in effect, isn't it?

The Shaykh: Of course.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: But there is a difference between one who catches it and one who catches it; this must be kept in mind.

The questioner: Yes, by Allah, that is good. Please, go ahead.

The Shaykh: What is in it?

The questioner: By Allah, my Shaykh, this knowledge, as I recall, is French. Yes, that is right.

The Shaykh: This is France!

The questioner: Yes, this is France, my Shaykh.

The Shaykh: What is in it?

The questioner: It seems the president or one of them is coming.

Another questioner: The French president, my Shaykh, wants to come.

The Shaykh: Oh, may Allah protect Amman.

The questioner: The president, François Mitterrand, of the French Republic.

The Shaykh: There is no power or strength except with Allah: "Indeed, the birds in our land are becoming fierce."

The questioner: Allah is the Greatest. Yes, my Shaykh, the detail is excellent. May Allah reward you, this is good.

The Shaykh: Yes, it is obligatory that we keep in mind when we say in this hadith:
Whoever catches a raka of the prayer has caught
Muwatta Malik 1:15
, it is obligatory that when we interpret it: meaning catching the congregational prayer, we should keep in mind along with this: that there is a difference between catching and catching.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: So the one who catches the congregation with the takbir of ihram with the imam is not like the one who catches it before the imam exits the prayer with the salam.

The questioner : What Allah willed.

The Shaykh: And this is a very big difference, and between them, of course, there are many degrees and levels.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Oh, this must be kept in mind when we interpret the hadith with catching the virtue of the congregation, for it came in the hadith agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim:
When you come to the prayer, come to it with calmness and composure, and do not come to it while rushing; so whatever you catch, pray, and whatever you missed, complete
,
And whatever you missed, complete
meaning: catching happens, as I gave an example just now: even by catching the prayer before the imam's salam.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: So what you missed,
and pray whatever you get (with the people) and complete the rest which you have missed
Sahih al-Bukhari 635
, this is what I wanted to clarify and draw attention to.

The questioner: May Allah honor you, my Shaykh, it seems so, my Shaykh, that hadith says the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever catches
or:
Whoever prays for forty days without missing the first takbir, two protections are written for him: protection from hypocrisy, and protection from the Fire
or as he said (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner: I say, my Shaykh, this hadith means, it seems like.

The Shaykh: This hadith, I referred to it at the beginning of my speech.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: When I said: whoever catches the takbir of ihram with the imam.

The questioner: I remembered it when you mentioned this, yes, this distinguishes, may Allah honor you, my Shaykh.
