What is the ruling on qunut in times of calamity?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Has qunut in times of calamity become one of the abandoned sunnahs?

Answer:
Some scholars hold that it has been abrogated, but that is not correct; for Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
Not for you, [O Muhammad, but for Allah], is the decisionلَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ
[Al-Imran: 128] when he performed qunut. The correct view is that it has not been abrogated; rather, the Lord (Exalted and Majestic is He) made it clear to him that he must take the necessary measures and make supplication, and Allah is the Guide . He supplicated against his people, but it was not answered regarding them, and Allah guided them and revealed:
Not for you, [O Muhammad, but for Allah], is the decisionلَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ
[Ali 'Imran 3:128]
, such as al-Harith ibn Hisham and Safwan ibn Umayyah. The most apparent view is that it remains in times of calamity, but as ... said, it is rarely practiced. He said: And qunut in a calamity like the jihad against the Afghans and some other calamities is worthy of supplication.
