Ruling on marrying the wife of one’s wife’s father

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to marry the wife of my wife’s father, or not?

Answer:
Yes, it is permissible for a man to marry the wife of his wife’s father, provided that she is not his mother and there is no milk kinship between them. There is no harm in this; a man may marry a woman and the wife of her father, as long as she is not her mother. Abdullah ibn Ja’far married the daughter of Ali (may Allah be pleased with them), who was not his mother.
The point is that there is nothing wrong with a man marrying two women, one of whom is the wife of the other’s father.
