Combining a wife with her father’s daughter: marrying the mother of one’s wife

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 5391 )
Q: I am a young man currently married, and my wife is with me. I wish to marry a second wife, a girl whose mother was previously married to my wife’s father, but she did not bear him any children, and then he divorced her. She then married another man and had this girl, whom I wish to marry. Please note that my current wife is the daughter of another woman whom my uncle married after he divorced the woman mentioned above. Is it permissible for me to marry this girl alongside my first wife, or must I divorce my first wife? Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.
A: If the situation is as you described, it is permissible for you to combine the aforementioned girl with your current wife. The fact that your wife’s father is currently married to the girl’s mother has no effect on this matter; because the original ruling is permissibility, and nothing has been found that changes this. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
