The Ruling on Women Praying in Congregation at Home

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it better for women to pray in congregation if they are in the same house? And do they hear the voice of their imam?

Answer:
This is better if it is feasible for them to pray in congregation in their homes, with the one most knowledgeable and virtuous among them leading them. This is the best, because it facilitates teaching, following in tranquility, and hearing the recitation. They hear her voice in the prayers where the recitation is loud, such as Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr. There is good in this. It is reported from Aisha and Umm Salama that they used to lead the women in prayer in their homes at times.
So the conclusion: It is not wrong for a woman to lead women in prayer at home; it is a good thing and can be very beneficial, especially if the imam is one of the knowledgeable and discerning women who guides them and leads them in the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a prayer of tranquility, without haste and without religious innovation. She teaches them and guides them after the prayer and at other times. All of this is good.
