The ruling on using Zamzam water for ghusl and istinja'

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A message reached us from Tihama, 'Asir, sent by one of the brothers from there. He says: Nasir Yahya Taththuth al-Najji, our brother, asks a question and says: Does Zamzam water have an effect on a man when he takes a ghusl with it, or not?
Answer: Zamzam water is blessed water. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding Zamzam:
It is blessedإنها مباركة
And he said regarding its water:
It is food that nourishes and a cure for sicknessإنه طعام طعم وشفاء سقم
Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 12:1015
So it is blessed water, and it is among the causes of healing from many diseases. There is no harm in a believer taking a ghusl with it or performing wudu' from it; there is no blame on him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed wudu' from it. So if a person performs wudu' from it, or takes a ghusl from it for cooling, or for janabah, or for the blessing that Allah has placed in it, there is no harm in that. He may also use it for istinja', and he may use it for istinja' even though it is blessed; there is no harm in using it for istinja'. It is pure water, good water, so there is no harm in using it for istinja', just as with the water that gushed forth from between his fingers (peace and blessings be upon him). Indeed, the water gushed forth from between his fingers (peace and blessings be upon him) many times, and it is one of the miracles indicating his prophethood (peace and blessings be upon him) and that he is truly the Messenger of Allah. And yet, the Companions gave it to them to carry in their vessels, and they would take ghusl, perform istinja', and perform wudu' with it. It is a great, blessed water. So likewise, Zamzam water is a great, blessed water, and there is no harm in performing wudu' from it, taking ghusl from it, or removing najasah with it. And whoever among the jurists said that doing so is disliked, his statement is weak and the weaker position. Yes.
