The Disagreement of Muftis and How to Address This Disagreement

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A final question in this session, Your Eminence! Regarding the disagreement of muftis, do you have any comment on it?
The Shaykh: Yes, the disagreement of muftis is inevitable, ... since ancient times. In fatwas, disagreement is bound to occur, as is evident in the books of the scholars. However, it is obligatory for one who is afflicted with the responsibility of issuing fatwas to the people to examine these fatwas, to strive to seek clear evidence, and to be cautious about being lenient in issuing fatwas. If he is able to advise the muftis and to bring them closer together, whether they are in his country or he can correspond with them, so that the fatwas become more aligned and the gap of disagreement narrows, then this is among the most important matters. We ask Allah for guidance and success for everyone. Yes.
