Encouraging Patience in Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A message has reached the program from one of the sisters, (A.A.), from the Arab Republic of Egypt, residing in Wadi al-Dawasir. Our sister says: She was working as a nurse in a school unit and forbade an evil she saw in her workplace, which resulted in her dismissal from her job. It also led to her distress and psychological troubles. She has also started forbidding her children from forbidding any evil. She seeks guidance?
Answer: There is no doubt that this is a great mistake. In fact, it is obligatory for her to forbid the evil, and it does not harm her that she was dismissed or that they did not need her. She has pleased her Lord (Exalted and Majestic is He) and done what she should. Matters are in the hand of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue, and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heart, and that is the least of faith.من رأى منكم منكراً فليغيره بيده، فإن لم يستطع فبلسانه، فإن لم يستطع فبقلبه وذلك أضعف الإيمان
Sahih Muslim 49a
And Allah says in His great Book, (Glorified and Exalted is He):
The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrongوَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُُ بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ
[At-Tawbah: 71]. And He says, (Exalted and Majestic is He):
You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah.
[Al-Imran: 110].
If she did that in obedience to Allah and seeking His pleasure, then the outcome will be good. What they did will not harm her. Allah will provide for her and give her what will suffice her for what she was dismissed from and what she was relieved of. Allah is the Provider (Exalted and Majestic is He), and in His hand is all good (Glorified and Exalted is He). He is the One who said: :
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way outوَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا ۝
[At-Talaq 65:2]
and He provides for him from where he does not expect [At-Talaq: 2-3]. And He said, (Glorified and Exalted is He):
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease.وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ يُسْرًا
[At-Talaq: 4].
So the believer and the believing woman should fear Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He). The school and the nurse should fear Allah. Every believer should fear Allah in forbidding evil and calling to good with wisdom and good speech. She should not forbid her children from forbidding evil; rather, she should advise them to forbid evil and enjoin good, but with wisdom, good speech, and a good manner, not with harshness, violence, or roughness. Nor by action, but by speech; because only those in authority and those to whom this matter has been delegated can act, or a person in his home with his family may be able to act. As for with people, it is sufficient to forbid with the tongue and say: "My brother, fear Allah. This is not permissible. This is evil," if he knows that, if he has knowledge. But if he does not have knowledge, he has no right to forbid. Only one who has knowledge that this is evil and that Allah has forbidden it (Glorified and Exalted is He) should forbid. Yes. Allah is the Helper.
