Permissibility of merely passing water over the beard when performing wudu'

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Our brother asks regarding the person performing wudu' who has a thick beard: is it obligatory for the water to reach the roots of the hair?
Answer: It is sufficient for him to pass the water over it; if he passes the water over it, that is sufficient. Authentic hadiths have come from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) indicating that passing water over the beard is sufficient, and that if he washes his face such that he passes the water over the beard, that is sufficient. However, parting the beard is better. If parting the beard is easy, it is better. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did both of these. Yes.
