A message was received for the program from our brother: Suhayb (N. A). Our brother says: If you would be so kind as to explain the following hadith, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 67 What is the meaning of "disbelief in itself" in this hadith?
Answer: This is an authentic hadith narrated by Muslim in his Sahih from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih Muslim 67 Criticizing lineage: This means belittling the lineages of people, saying so-and-so has such a flaw, so-and-so has such a flaw, so-and-so’s lineage has such a defect. One criticizes their lineages and faults them for something in oneself, or out of arrogance and pride. This is not permissible. However, if it is in the way of reporting information, such as saying "The Banu Tamim are such and such," "Qahtan is such and such," "Quraysh is such and such," "The Banu Hashim are such and such," reporting their lineages that they are tribes and that they are such and such, reporting about their conditions without criticism, but rather reporting about their lineages and details, then this is not criticizing lineages. Criticizing lineages means faulting and belittling them out of arrogance and pride, or to expose their faults and backbite about them, or the like. His intention is nothing other than that.
And wailing means: raising the voice over the deceased, that one wails, meaning: raises his voice, crying with a clear, audible voice. This is prohibited. And the disbelief here is disbelief less than disbelief. The disbelief here is a condemned disbelief according to the scholars, so it is minor shirk; because disbelief is of two kinds, and injustice is of two kinds, and shirk is of two kinds: major and minor. So major shirk is like: calling upon the dead, seeking aid from the dead, making vows for them, or for idols, or for trees and stones, or for stars. This is major shirk. And minor shirk is like saying: "If it were not for Allah and so-and-so," "What Allah willed and what so-and-so willed." This is minor shirk. It is obligatory to say: "If it were not for Allah, then so-and-so," "What Allah willed, then what so-and-so willed," and so on. Swearing by other than Allah, such as saying: "By the Prophet," or "By the Prophet," or "By your life," this is minor shirk. So is slight showing off, such as when one seeks forgiveness and hears people, showing off, or reads, showing off. This is minor shirk.
And injustice is of two kinds: major and minor. So calling upon the dead, seeking aid from the dead, and denying what Allah has forbidden, such as zina and the like, meaning: deeming lawful what Allah has forbidden and denying its prohibition, this is major disbelief. And so is denying what Allah has made obligatory, such as denying the obligation of prayer or denying the obligation of zakah, this is major disbelief. And slaughtering for other than Allah and worshipping other than Allah, such as worshipping stars, the dead, idols, and trees, this is major disbelief.
And minor disbelief is like: wailing over the deceased, like criticizing lineages, like disavowing lineages, like swearing by other than Allah. It is said: "Disbelief less than disbelief." These are the details of major and minor shirk, and major and minor injustice, and so on, minor and major disbelief.
And so is injustice, such as injustice to people in their blood and their wealth, this is minor injustice. And major shirk is called: major injustice. Allah the Exalted said: [al-Baqarah: 254] And He the Exalted said: [al-An'am: 82] So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained the injustice here as major shirk.
So disbelief is of two kinds, and injustice is of two kinds, and shirk is of two kinds: major and minor. And what is in the hadith:Sahih Muslim 67 this is from minor disbelief. Yes.
Two (things) are found among men which are tantamount to unbelief: slandering one's lineage and lamentation on the dead.
اثنتان في الناس هما بهم كفر: الطعن في الأنساب، والنياحة على الميتAnswer: This is an authentic hadith narrated by Muslim in his Sahih from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:

And the disbelievers - they are the wrongdoers.
وَالْكَافِرُونَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَThey who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice - those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided.
الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُوا إِيمَانَهُمْ بِظُلْمٍ أُوْلَئِكَ لَهُمُ الأَمْنُ وَهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَSo disbelief is of two kinds, and injustice is of two kinds, and shirk is of two kinds: major and minor. And what is in the hadith:
Two (things) are found among men which are tantamount to unbelief: slandering one's lineage and lamentation on the dead.
