Explanation of the Hadith: (Religion is sincere advice)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Our brother wrote the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
The religion is sincere adviceالدين النصيحة
He wrote it by meaning. I hope the Shaykh would be kind enough to explain that hadith as well, according to his request?
Answer: This is a great hadith, narrated by Muslim in the Sahih from the hadith of Tamim al-Dari, and it has corroborating narrations from other than Muslim. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The religion is sincere adviceالدين النصيحة
It was said: For whom, O Messenger of Allah? He said:
To Allah, to His Book, To His Messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their masses.لله، ولكتابه، ولرسوله، ولأئمة المسلمين وعامتهم
Sahih Muslim 55a
So it is a great hadith indicating that religion is sincere advice, and that indicates the greatness of its status; because he made it the religion, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Hajj is 'Arafahالحج عرفة
So this hadith indicates that sincere advice is the religion, and it is sincerity in a matter and truthfulness in it until it is performed as Allah has made obligatory.
So religion is sincere advice in all that Allah has made obligatory, and in leaving what Allah has forbidden, and this is general, encompassing the right of Allah, the right of the Messenger, the right of the Qur'an, the right of the imams, and the right of the common people.
And sincere advice, as mentioned before, is sincerity in a matter and caring for it, and striving to have it performed completely and perfectly, without any deceit or betrayal. It is said in the language of the Arabs: "The camel is nasih," meaning: there is no deceit in it. And they also say: "Nasih honey," meaning: there is no deceit in it. So thus the believer must be nasih (sincere) in his deeds to Allah, to His Book, to His Messenger, to the imams of the Muslims, and to their common people, like this.
So sincere advice to Allah is His tawhid (the oneness of Allah) (Glorified and Exalted is He) and sincerity to Him, and the purity of worship for Him (Exalted and Majestic is He), from prayer, fasting, Hajj, jihad, and other than that, meaning: that one works with the utmost sincerity for Allah, not worshipping with Him any other, but worshipping Him alone, and being sincere in this worship and perfecting it.
And likewise, he is sincere in performing what is obligatory and leaving what Allah has forbidden; he performs it completely; because he knows that it is the right of Allah, and that Allah has made it obligatory upon him, so he is sincere in that and cares for that.
And likewise in the right of the Qur'an, he reflects upon it, understands it, and acts with what is in it of commands, and refrains from the prohibitions. It is the great Book of Allah and His firm rope.
So it is obligatory to care for sincere advice to the Book of Allah, and that is by preserving the commands and leaving the prohibitions and standing at the limits, so that one does not neglect anything of the commands of Allah in the Qur'an, and so that one does not transgress anything of the prohibitions of Allah, along with the belief that it is the speech of Allah, revealed and not created, from which it began and to which it returns. This is the saying of the people of the Sunnah and the community, all of them. The speech of Allah, from which it was revealed to His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), as He said: :
(193) The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down (194) Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners -نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الأَمِينُ ۝ عَلَى قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُنذِرِينَ
[Surah al-Shu'ara: 193-194].
The believer believes in this, and likewise the believing woman, and he believes that it is the speech of Allah, revealed and not created, from which it began and to which it returns, contrary to the Jahmiyyah and those who follow in their footsteps from the innovators.
And likewise, sincere advice to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is by obeying his commands and leaving his prohibitions, and believing that he is the Messenger of Allah in truth, and defending his Sunnah and fighting for it. All of this is from sincere advice to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), such as caring for his hadiths, knowing their authentic from their weak, fighting for them, complying with them, and standing at the limits that the Sunnah has set. All of this is from sincere advice to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
And whoever adds to that by performing the obligatory and leaving the forbidden, that is perfection for the sincere advice and completion of it.
The result is that, by His care, through what Allah and His Messenger have commanded, and what the Book of Allah indicates regarding rights, one has given sincere advice to Allah, His Book, and His Messenger by fulfilling the obligations of Allah, avoiding the prohibitions of Allah, observing the limits of Allah, and frequently praising Him and remembering Him, and fearing Him (Exalted and Majestic is He). All of this is part of giving sincere advice to Allah, His Book, and His Messenger. Yes.
