Continuation of the explanation of the statement of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : We have previously spoken about the beginning of this hadith, which is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
for Allah لله
meaning that the religion is sincere advice to Allah. Then he said:
And to His Book.
meaning that it is also part of the religion to offer sincere advice to the Book of Allah the Exalted and Majestic. This includes the Book of Allah that was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and that which was revealed before it. Sincere advice to these books means believing in their reports; that is, what they report must be believed to be true. As for the Qur'an, this is apparent, for the Qur'an, praise be to Allah, has been transmitted by mass transmission (tawatur) from the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to our day, and until Allah the Exalted and Majestic raises it in the end of times. The young read it from the old. As for the previous books, they have been distorted, altered, and changed. However, whatever is authentic among them, its report must be believed and its ruling held to be correct. But we are not obligated to follow the rulings of the previous books except by evidence from our Shari'ah. Part of sincere advice to the Book of Allah is that a person defends it, defending it from one who distorts it, whether in wording or in meaning, or from one who claims that there is a deficiency in it or an addition to it. For example, the Rafidah claim that there is a deficiency in the Qur'an and that the Qur'an revealed to Muhammad is more than what is currently in the hands of the Muslims. By doing so, they have contradicted the consensus of the Muslims. The Qur'an, praise be to Allah, has not been diminished in any way. Whoever claims that something has been taken from it has lied against the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.
[Al-Hijr 15:9]
Allah the Exalted and Majestic has guaranteed its preservation. Whoever claims that even a single letter has been omitted from it has lied against Allah the Exalted and Majestic, and he must repent and return to Allah from this apostasy. Part of sincere advice to the Book of Allah is that a person spreads its meaning among the Muslims—the correct meaning that conforms to its apparent text, such that there is no distortion or alteration. If he sits in a gathering, it is good and part of sincere advice to the Book of Allah to bring a verse from the Book of Allah the Exalted and Majestic, explain it to the people, and clarify its meaning. This is especially true for verses that are frequently recited among Muslims, such as al-Fatihah. As we all know, al-Fatihah is a pillar of the prayer in every rak'ah for the imam, the one praying behind him, and the one praying alone. People need to know it, so if he explains it before the people and clarifies it for them, this is part of sincere advice to the Book of Allah the Exalted and Majestic. Part of sincere advice to the Book of Allah is that you believe that Allah the Exalted spoke this Qur'an in reality, and that it is His speech, Mighty and Majestic. The letters and the meaning; it is not the letters without the meanings, nor the meanings without the letters. Rather, it is the speech of Allah in both wording and meaning. He spoke it, and Jibril received it from Him, then brought it down to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Allah the Exalted said:
(192) And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. (193) The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down (194) Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - (195) In a clear Arabic language.
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:192-195]
Consider how He said:
upon your heart عَلَى قَلْبِكَ
even though the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) hears it with his ear. But if what is heard by the ear does not reach the heart, it does not settle in the soul. Nothing settles in the soul except what reaches the heart through the ear, or through a vision with the eye, or touch with the hand, or smell with the nose, or taste with the mouth. The important thing is the settling, which is the heart. For this reason, He said:
Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners -
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:194]
Accordingly, it is not part of sincere advice for someone to say: “This Qur'an is an expression of the speech of Allah, but it is not the speech of Allah,” or to say: “It is created among the creations of Allah,” or the like. Rather, part of sincere advice is to believe that it is truly the speech of Allah, in both wording and meaning. Part of sincere advice to the Book of Allah the Exalted and Majestic is that a person acts with respect for it, respecting this great Qur'an. This includes not touching the Qur'an unless one is pure from both minor and major ritual impurity, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
no-one should touch the Qur'an unless he was pure
Muwatta Malik 15:1
or from behind a barrier, because one who touches it from behind a barrier has not actually touched it. It is recommended, not obligatory, that one not read the Qur'an, even from memory, unless in a state of ritual purity, because this is part of respecting the Qur'an. Part of sincere advice to the Book of Allah the Exalted and Majestic is not to place it in a place where it is disgraced, where its placement constitutes disgrace, such as a place of filth or the like. For this reason, one must be cautious of what some boys do when they finish their lessons in their schools; they throw their textbooks, which include the mushaf or parts of the mushaf, into the streets or the trash or the like, refuge with Allah from that. As for placing the mushaf on pure, good ground, there is nothing wrong with it, no harm, because this does not involve disgracing the Qur'an or insulting it. It happens often to people when they are praying and reading from the mushaf and want to prostrate; they place it in front of them. This is not considered disgracing or insulting the mushaf, so there is nothing wrong with it. And Allah knows best.
The reader: The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted: “From Tamim al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The Religion is sincerity." We said, "To whom?" He said "To Allah, to His Book, To His Messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their masses."
Sahih Muslim 55a
Narrated by Muslim”
