The Ruling on Performing Hajj on Behalf of Another

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first message received by the program is from the listener: Adel Abdul Hamid Hassan, from the Arab Republic of Egypt, residing in Jordan. In his first question, he says: My father passed away and did not perform Hajj to the House of Allah the Sacred. I want to perform a Hajj and dedicate it to him. Is it permissible for me to perform Hajj on his behalf or not? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon His servant and Messenger, His choice from among His creation, and His trustee over His revelation, our Prophet, our Imam, and our Master Muhammad ibn Abdullah, and upon his family and his Companions, and whoever follows his path and is guided by his guidance until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows: There is no harm in your performing Hajj on behalf of your father. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that more than one person asked him; some said, "My father is unable to perform Hajj; should I perform it on his behalf?" and another said, "My mother died without performing Hajj; should I perform it on her behalf?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) responded to them by permitting it. So, my brother, you may perform Hajj on behalf of your father once or more. You are to be thanked for this, and it is an act of dutifulness to him and kindness toward him. May Allah bless you.
