I intend to perform Hajj for them, but the problem is that they are so old that they cannot even endure a journey, let alone perform the rites of Hajj such as tawaf, sa'y, and stoning the pillars. Should I perform Hajj for them, or should I appoint someone to perform it for them? Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.
Answer: It is prescribed for you to perform Hajj for each of them individually. Start with the mother, then the father; this is the best. This is because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked by Abu Razin al-'Uqayli, who said: So you should perform Hajj for them. May Allah reward you with good. Start with the mother because her right is greater, then perform Hajj for the father. If you perform Hajj for them, meaning you hire a trustworthy person to perform it for them, there is nothing wrong with that. However, if you undertake it yourself, that is better, unless you see that someone else is better than you in knowledge and virtue, and you agree with him to perform Hajj for them, then there is nothing wrong with that. Yes.
