The question: May Allah greet you, Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz! The first message in this episode is one that reached the program from the State of Kuwait, the Amir's Court, and its sender is our brother: Faisal Musa Abu Shaykhah. Our brother, the text of his message is as follows:
The question: Your Eminence, the honorable 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Baz. Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
After praising Allah with abundant praise, and sending prayers and peace upon our beloved Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), I place before you the following:
I have been listening to your program, Nur 'ala al-Darb, for a considerable period, and then I found myself following it regularly. I found that the beneficial knowledge contained in it is limitless in all fields of Islamic jurisprudence, which no one can do without. It became clear to me that a very small number of people follow this program on the radio or find the enthusiasm to listen to the tapes for various reasons, whereas if it were available in a book, one could refer to it easily, at any time, and on any topic.
Therefore: I took the initiative to write down the fatwas after recording them with precision and fidelity. I now have a large collection of fatwas from the distinguished scholars in Saudi Arabia. Out of my concern that these fatwas should not remain on the pages of my notebooks, I am prepared to print and distribute them so that they reach many people at a nominal price. I am confident, with Allah's help, in the correctness and precision of what I have written, because it is a scientific trust in transmission. I am prepared to present it to your Eminence now, before the final printing, or to present it to one of the trusted scholars here in Kuwait.
The important point is that this valuable information and these Islamic legal fatwas, which contain great benefit, are distributed to regions where religious innovations and newly invented matters far from the Sunnah are prevalent, so that they may work to return them to the truth, if Allah wills and with His help.
We have great hope in Allah, and then in you, for your approval to print these fatwas so that knowledge may spread and understanding may expand, and so that you, if Allah wills, and the rest of the scholars may receive great reward, as well as we and those who contribute to the publication and distribution.
I also repeat my pledge that what is printed will be what was said on the tongues of your Eminence as a complete topic and precise fatwas. I fear Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and I know the consequences of errors in this work; therefore, I will be careful to have multiple reviews.
I repeat my supplication to Allah , as I have supplicated before, that this work be completed and that He grant you health and well-being, and guide us to follow up on these fatwas and have the ability to complete them, so that we may meet Allah the Exalted with knowledge that is beneficial, and may Allah make in you permanent good and blessing. My hope in Allah, and then in you, is that you would graciously respond in writing and on the program so that our work is correct, knowing that I will not proceed to print anything if you refuse it and do not approve of it?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows: I thank the questioner for his high ambition and his desire for knowledge, and I ask Allah for you, my brother, an increase in all good, and that He grant us and you beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds. Then I inform you that I have no objection to printing the fatwas related to me that are published through this program, because there is benefit in that, if Allah wills, for everyone. However, I say: it is necessary to send them to me so that I may review them, out of caution against any error. If you see to sending them to me before printing, that is what I see, and after that we will return them to you, if Allah wills, in a short time, so that we may be reassured of the correctness of what exists and the absence of error. Also, know that I am determined to print all the fatwas issued through this program and the other fatwas that have been issued and are being issued by us in other places and through other means, such as the fatwas issued by us in writing in newspapers and elsewhere, or for questioners through writing, and likewise the small works that we write on some topics. All of this will be collected and published, if Allah wills, for the Muslims. Now we are working on that, and the first volume will be issued soon and distributed, if Allah wills, and the second volume is on the way, if Allah wills, and so on, the rest of the fatwas will be issued, if Allah wills, successively, printed and distributed to the Muslims through the Department of Ifta and through the house, all of it. But I have no objection to printing also what is issued from this program by our brothers in Allah, but after care and after sending it to me for review. May Allah guide everyone. Yes.
