Listening to the Nur 'ala al-Darb program in the mosque
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is it permissible to listen to the Nur 'ala al-Darb program in the mosque instead of listening to the empty talk of some of the worshippers, and to prevent worldly chatter in the mosques?
A: Listening to this program is of great benefit, and it contains many advantages. Allah has made this program easy for the Muslims to benefit from it; it is like a circle of knowledge from which men and women benefit while they are in their homes and gatherings, and on their families. It is one of Allah’s great blessings, and one of Allah’s standing proofs against the people, reaching them in their homes, in their cars, in their airplanes, and in every place.
Therefore, Muslims should benefit from this program, and they should praise and thank Allah for what He has made easy for them, (Glorified and Exalted is He). People used to strive for knowledge from distant places to the mosques, and to the scholars in their homes to seek knowledge. Perhaps a man would travel from a far country to a scholar to seek a benefit from him. Jabir ibn 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) traveled to Sham, and others traveled to Egypt and Yemen for a single hadith, and they were the Companions of the Messenger of Allah and the best of the Salaf of this nation.
So you, O servant of Allah, and O nation of Allah, Allah has made this program easy for you through the airwaves, and you are in your homes. I advise and counsel every Muslim man and woman to benefit from this program, and to ask about whatever is unclear to them through this program.
We ask Allah to grant success to those in charge of this program to hit the truth, and to help them in conveying the message of Allah, His command and His prohibition, to the nation in every place. We ask Allah to grant success to Muslims in every place to listen to this program and benefit from it. When something regarding their religion becomes unclear to someone, all they have to do is ask the people of knowledge in any place until they are reassured; for the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He): : [Al-Anbiya: 7].
There is no harm in turning on the radio in the mosque to listen to this program, and to listen to knowledge from other than this program at appropriate times that the congregation agrees upon. If the sounds of music or something that is not approved come on, it is obligatory to turn it off.
