How to make up what one missed of the Eid and eclipse prayers with the imam
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
From the brother Rashid Muhammad al-Dawsari from Dhahran, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Our brother asks and says: If a person wants to complete what he missed, for example, in the Eid prayer or the solar or lunar eclipse prayer, does he complete it as in the ruling for the obligatory prayers, or is the matter different here? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer: In the Eid prayer and the Friday prayer, he completes it in its form. The Friday prayer is like the Friday prayer, and the Eid prayer is like the Eid prayer. It is better to say the prescribed takbirs in it, which are five. If he missed the first part of the Eid prayer, the second part becomes the first part of his prayer. So if he makes it up, it is better to say five takbirs in the make-up. If he does not say the five and is content with the one with which he rises from prostration, there is no harm and no blame on him. However, it is better for him to make it up in its state, making it up as an Eid prayer; this is the best. If he makes it up like the other prayers and does not rely on the takbirs at the beginning, but relies on the takbirs with which he rises from his sitting after his imam’s taslim, then there is no harm and no blame.
As for the eclipse... he prays it as Allah has prescribed, with two recitations, two bowings, and two prostrations. If he missed the first rak'ah, he prays it as the imam prayed it, with two recitations, two bowings, and two prostrations. This is because it is prescribed for him to pray as Allah commanded him. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded this; he commanded the Muslims to pray the eclipse prayer with two recitations, two bowings, and two prostrations, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) did. He said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 1491Sahih (Darussalam), and this was explained by his action (peace and blessings be upon him), so he prayed it in two rak'ahs with two recitations, two bowings, and two prostrations in each rak'ah. So the Sunnah for us is to pray it as he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed it. Yes.
