Working in Places of Fitnah and Its Effect on the Heart

Question:
I am a passport processing officer, and this job allows me to see women’s photos in passports when carrying out the official procedures. Does this job affect my heart?

Answer:
It will not harm you, if Allah wills, if the intention is to maintain security, help the state in improving society, and preserve security; there is nothing wrong with that. However, you must be wary of inclining toward desires, or inclining toward what leads you to corruption.
If you do not feel safe, and you know from your heart that there is a danger to you because you see beautiful faces, and that might lead you to fitnah, then stay away from this job and move to another job.
The believer should be a doctor to himself, looking at what is best. If processing passports might lead you to what harms you, then move from this job to another. If it does not harm you, and you see nothing but good from it, and your intention is good, benefiting the Muslims, preserving security, and helping the state in what benefits the Muslims, then there is no blame on you.
